Are your links Visible?
Get a Search bot eye view of
each Link for a
Search engine friendly page;
or better known as a
text browser view.
Have you read were a search engine suggest a webmaster should design their pages so they could be viewed with a text browser
or Linux view for the sake of the robot spider or crawler, just to leave you wondering how you could pull that off without installing a Linux O.S. or
emulated browser?
Follow these instructions to help shed light on a very important part of the search engine friendly scenario
Viewing pages with search bot eyes will give you a better overall perspective.
The following are two methods that allow you to do just that, starting with a link to a web site
which carries a tool to help accomplish this task.
Search Bot Eyes
You can go to
the Delorie web site and familiarize yourself with an available tool that will effectively give you search bot eyes.
Mainly what this page does is; it takes a look at your page in the same manner as seen through the eyes of a search engine bot
that doesn't recognize JavaScript straightway. Gee and here you probably thought that Hyper text markup language JavaScript and search
engines were three entirely separate things to consider while building that new page for the Web; I plan to show how both
can be accomplished by showing some examples and supply a link to that when it is complete.
The short version in the case of using editors is to insure each link is a link and not text or button, automatic on some editors may work
but who's to say , since it is automatic and other changes may shift the actual layout.
Now back to the text browser view: One of the requirements to use the service mentioned here is to drop an HTML file named delorie.htm in your root
directory to OK access to your site when using his service.
I personally think this person (The delorie owner) must have great insight or else he would not have thought to provide this service for a text
based or Lynx view of web pages.
Another tool you could use designed as a Firefox Extension - Lynx view of any page with a right-click or toolbar button
There is also a web viewer on the Yellow pipe Web site , similar to the Delorie.com I made mention of first in this article.
