Domain Rank Quest
Start with content
Before you go creating back links in your quest for a higher domain rank, you should consider starting
with content, because it really doesn't matter how many back links you have or even if you make it to
page one for a time if your content is crap, because your visitors won't hang around to read just
because you have page one results, and if you think content doesn't count, then you need to pursue
another goal instead of writer, news guru or webmaster, else you are going to be very disappointed.
(Unless you are one of those that feel page hits somehow out weigh keeping the reader interested.
Domain rank is a combination of your home page and your other pages and sub-domains. if you have them.
Practically none existent Content
I just finished reading an entry from a forum where an individual requested help on getting his site
to show up in a well known search engine.
The answers he got all suggested he get some back links, the problem with these suggestions was that
his content was practically none existent to a search engine, ranging from generic photo names such
as image1.jpg and header, jpg for his page header , instead of being named according to the site and
content his page was to represent.
It was a single page site with links to several photo's such as tomatoes which were using generic
names, instead of the obvious best chose of things like tomato.jpg, yet this person had a descent
Page, if only it were showing up in the search engines, and so renaming those photo's would be a great
start.
Bad sites that do showing up in the top 10 with content that sucks.
And now the opposite; Bad sites that do show up in the top 10, yet have content that sucks.
Looking at this through the eyes of a surfer; One of the first things I became burned out on during
surfs across the Web, was selecting top results that led to top junk, instead of the supposed best
content or specific topic, or thing I was searching for. In short content should always come first
and that along with links in time can get you a front page show for sure.
And the moral of this is "A cheater never wins, he may feel he is winning the battle, but in the
end, if he continues to do things black hat fashion, he is bound to loose his war against the
search engines and most importantly his draw for his otherwise would be returning surfers.
WWW and none WWW Domain Name use
A word on domain rank and the two sided WWW coin.
Some wrongly conclude that there is something wrong when a website sub domain address of
WWW.example.com doesn't match the (none WWW) example.com equivalent.
This is not true, regardless of whether or not the none WWW is redirected to the WWW sub except and
depending on how long it has been either way. For the most part if the none WWW has different content
and is not being forwarded/redirected then it is only natural that it stands to be given and holding
a different value. Naturally it could also have the same by coincidence, although it is sometimes
hard to tell wither a search engine is counting the two as one in the same; especially, if you acquired the domain second
hand and sense sub-domains add to the total one might consider using both with different content; "in
my opinion."
